Aerial Surveys has been mapping New Zealand from above for more than six decades. During that time, the technology has evolved from film cameras, darkrooms and hand-produced farm maps to digital aerial imagery, LiDAR and advanced 3D mapping.

We’ve taken the time to piece together the fascinating history of Aerial Surveys. While most people appreciate how challenging aerial surveying in New Zealand can be, our history shows that those challenges extend well beyond capturing data from the air.
Aerial Surveys’ longevity can be attributed to a relentless pursuit of innovation and the well-known Kiwi can-do attitude of finding a way to make things happen.
